Alteon is targeting persistent ocean monitoring and government maritime surveillance with aircraft that could stay aloft for months without the refueling, crews or infrastructure required by conventional aircraft, ships or satellites. Its $2.5 million pre-seed, led by Lachy Groom with Together Fund participating, funds the push from offshore flight tests toward energy-neutral dynamic soaring, but the company has not yet shown that harvested wind energy alone can sustain flight.
