CityFibre builds and wholesales an open-access, fibre-only network that internet providers, businesses, mobile operators and public-sector organisations use to connect homes and sites across the UK.
CityFibre is trying to make the UK’s broadband market more competitive by building a wholesale-only, open-access fibre network rather than selling retail services itself, giving ISPs and mobile operators an alternative to BT Openreach. The investment matters because the company says its network reached 4.7m premises and 848,000 customers at the end of 2025, while its £2.3bn 2025 financing, including £500m of new equity, is intended to fund expansion, acquisitions and a path toward more than 8m premises.
