Lilac Agriculture develops rhizobium inoculants for pulse-crop growers that are designed to fix more nitrogen and outcompete native soil bacteria for root nodules.
Native rhizobia can outcompete purchased inoculants, leaving growers paying for products with limited or inconsistent yield benefit, while Lilac targets both nitrogen-fixing efficiency and nodule competitiveness. Its PL11 product is already with Northern Plains pea and lentil growers and early trials reported a 6% yield increase versus a commercial inoculant; the new financing funds field trials, R&D, wider commercialization and preparation for Canada.
