SolarSub builds passive, no-moving-parts cooling systems for photovoltaic panels, initially for floating-solar developers and operators, to increase energy output and slow heat-related degradation.
Solar panels lose efficiency and degrade faster as heat rises, while SolarSub says its no-pumps, no-moving-parts passive system has delivered energy uplifts of up to 17.5% at the University of Edinburgh's FloWave facility and up to 19% during outdoor testing at Heriot-Watt University's Dubai campus. The £1.34 million round, led by Sustainable Ventures, funds product development, independent testing, larger real-world trials and commercialization, initially targeting floating solar before wider utility-scale PV.
