Vates builds open-source virtualization software, including the XCP-ng hypervisor and Xen Orchestra management and backup platform, for organizations running business infrastructure.
Vates is addressing organizations' concerns about proprietary virtualization licensing changes, rising costs and vendor lock-in with an open-source stack that lets customers keep control and move away from VMware. Its first €30 million round, after profitable self-funding since 2016, is aimed at expanding the platform's performance, storage, security, automation and AI-workload capabilities while scaling international sales and its partner ecosystem, against traction of more than 1,000 customers in about 100 countries, 150 people and more than 65% growth in 2025.
