AI inference is constrained by the tradeoff between memory capacity and bandwidth: SRAM is fast but small, while HBM-based systems hold more memory but feed models more slowly. Volantis says its photonic architecture can combine much larger memory pools with high bandwidth for low-latency inference, and the $88M Series A will fund development and commercialization of its A-1 system and movement toward customer deployments.
