Biossil is a Toronto AI-native biopharma that acquires failed or shelved drug candidates and uses AI to identify new indications or development paths for them.
Biossil is targeting a costly drug-development failure mode: its AI reanalyzes late-stage candidates that may have failed because of patient selection, trial design, or the wrong endpoint, potentially reusing years of prior work instead of starting from scratch. The latest $153 million all-equity financing led by the OpenAI Startup Fund, at a reported $1 billion valuation, is intended to expand clinical-development capacity and acquire more candidates while Biossil advances programs including sickle-cell disease and glioblastoma.
